Letter From the President

Welcome to Counterpoint Chorale's 5th season.  For 5 years we have been producing excellent choral music featuring talented young Canadian soloists appealing to many of Toronto's diverse communities.  The Board of Directors of Counterpoint Chorale has been active in bringing Counterpoint from a unique experiment in choral music to a regular feature in Toronto's choral music landscape.

In the last 5 years we have incorporated Counterpoint Chorale Inc. and become a registered charity.  We have started our fundraising campaign "Sponsors of Note" and have raised over $8,000 to date through donations.  In order to bring our music to a broader audience, embrace different cultural traditions and expand our repertoire we have partnered with a number of other music ensembles including Morning Star River Aboriginal Drummers, musicians form the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Celestial Choir, Schola Cantorum and Voices.  We have performed our own concert series and have been invited to perform special concerts for other groups and organizations.

Remaining grounded in our communities, Counterpoint has entered into a collaboration with Surrey Place Centre.  You can read more about this initiative here where we have the pleasure and the privilege to work with the Surrey Place Centre Symphonic Passion Chorus joining our experience with their love of music.  Together we are producing a unique brand of choral music not experienced before and we are enriching both choirs and our mutual audiences with workshops, mentoring and performances.

The Board of Directors is committed to delivering on Counterpoint Chorale’s mission of bringing classical choral music from Canada and around the world to entertain and educate its audiences.  We will do this through sound and experienced governance as well as accountable and transparent fiscal management.  We look forward to continuing to serve the needs of our choir membership, our partner organizations and our audience as we aim towards the next 5 years.
